BARMM, UNHCR, JICA partner to improve digital birth records in Lanao Sur
TAGS

The Ministry of Social Services and Development-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MSSD-BARMM), in collaboration with UNHCR and JICA, has launched a project to enhance digital birth registration in Lanao del Sur and Marawi City. Digital birth registration equipment has been distributed to local government units in Masiu, Butig, and Marawi City to strengthen civil registration systems and provide underserved communities with access to legal identity documents. This initiative aims to streamline processes, reduce delays, and provide official documentation to vulnerable populations, including children affected by conflict and marginalized communities.

The project supports the Philippine government’s normalization efforts and ensuring every child's right to legal identity. The program prioritizes decommissioned combatants and their families, demonstrating BARMM’s commitment to inclusive development and the protection of fundamental rights for all residents.
