Event Details
A three-day intensive training workshop was held in Phnom Penh with the National Institute of Statistics (NIS) of Cambodia. This training is part of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) completeness assessment initiative in Cambodia, with the primary objective of utilizing the most recent dataset – the 2024 Cambodia Intercensal Survey – to assess the completeness of birth and death registration at both national and sub-administrative levels. The workshop focused on the application of small area estimate (SAE) techniques, particularly the Elbers, Lanjouw and Lanjouw (ELL) methodology which is widely used for analyzing events of interest in smaller geographic areas where data may be sparse or incomplete. Participants received training in both basic and advanced statistical methods, enabling them to apply the ELL technique to calculate registration completeness at community levels. Following the workshop, remote mentoring will be provided to validate the results and ensure the accuracy of the assessments
