Getting every one in the picture
Progress Made on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific After a Decade of Getting Every One in the Picture
The Asian and the Pacific Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade (2015-2024) is dedicated to achieving universal and responsive CRVS systems for everyone. Well-functioning CRVS systems provide individuals with a legal identity, facilitate access to public services, and support governments by producing better data to guide decision making.
The report shows that more Asia-Pacific countries and territories than ever are now approaching universal and responsive registration of births and deaths, something that once felt out of reach for many. CRVS systems are much better positioned to respond to crises than they would have been five years ago. With further acceleration of efforts, governments can ensure the catalytic changes required to reach those furthest behind.
In this report, you will find a review of the progress made by countries in the Asia-Pacific region since the beginning of the Decade. It highlights achievements and remaining challenges to be addressed during the extension of the Decade to 2030 which was recently approved at the Third Ministerial Conference on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific. Successes of countries and partners are brought to life, providing a snapshot of CRVS in the region.
